Informed by Whalen’s employment as a gallery attendant and artist educator, Day Job explores how this job interacts with her role as an artist and tests the audiences expectations of what it is artist actually do. Day Job is staged within a provisional office environment, greeting visitors and beginning an act of shameless self promotion. Talking about herself and her practice and only herself and her practice until the engaged visitor deems its over and leaves the performance.
